February 11th is known as York Peppermint Pattie Day (The candy not the peanuts cartoon character.)
A Little Background:
The York Peppermint Pattie is a candy confection with a thick peppermint center and a thin bitter-sweet dark chocolate coating. It was first produced by the York Cone Company in 1940. This popular candy treat was originally distributed in the Northeastern United States, Ohio, Indiana and Florida before going national in 1975 under the Peter Paul brand. Peter Paul would later merge with Cadbury Schweppes and then to the Hershey Foods Corporation in 1988, who currently produces the candy.
